The Home Front Museum
This is a fascinating museum and will appeal to all generations. The displays depict typical civilian life in wartime. When doing a tour, the remarks “I remember these” or “My grandmother had one of those" are regularly heard.
The museum is full of all the memories of rationing, black market goods, evacuees, local law enforcement and three shop fronts showing the items that were for sale but possibly in very short supply. The house has a kitchen, a parlour and a living room, all laid out as they would have been around the war years.
A website is not the best place to see all the details, so do make a visit and have a look for yourselves.
